Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Planners groups.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
